Merry Christmas!

I hope everyone had a wonderful time!  I miss you all and look forward to class on January 5.  We will continue to work on the cane dance and I'm trying to finish another choreo.  Don't forget to work on your homework of coming up with a performance piece stressing the performance part!  We can help each other tweak the pieces if necessary.

Great Performance Last Saturday!

Everyone did a wonderful job!  We really are progressing!  I'm hoping that we'll have a successful performance at the Christmas Parade.  During our December break I'm going to try to choreograph a new piece so that we can begin fresh in January.

Advanced Veil Moves

Ok, girls, we're going to continue to work on brushing up on the more advanced veil moves.  At the moment, I'm trying to create a choreography incorporating a lot of those moves so please practice when you get the chance.

We also NEED to perform very soon.  I feel like we've been drifting a bit all summer and really need a goal to focus on.  Now that summer has come to an end, maybe our individual schedules will be more normal and attendance at class will be more regular :))))

We did receive an invitation to march and perform at the 2008 "Christmas in the Village" in Mt. Orab!  This year, we'll be better organized and can use my house as a base (and a bathroom).  It should be a lot of fun so mark your calendars for Sat. November 29.  Line-up for the parade is at 1 pm.  We need to discuss what we want to wear.

Please remember to pay your Sept. troupe dues.   Until later.....

Hospice of Hope Benefit

Well, it certainly was an interesting performance!   We started out with technical difficulties when our cd player wouldn't play.  We ended up piping music from a cd player in a pick-up truck.  Special thanks go out to Mary G.'s wonderful husband for helping us out of our jam!  You rock, Sam!!!

Anyway, we proceeded to dance in the sun and heat of early afternoon to a very small crowd.  Most of the people watching seemed to enjoy our dancing and one young lady danced for a bit with Chava.  Tami did her first solo and did a fantastic job!  Her new orange costume looked great too.  Anissa and Chava also did a wonderful job with their solos and Fiona and Mary G. were crowd pleasers with their duet.  We took the skirt dance out for a test run and I think we all agree that we still need to work on it to clean it up.  All in all though, it was a good experience and every chance we get to perform moves us forward.

We will meet at the barn on Monday, Aug. 11.  I am finishing up a zil choreography so if you have zils please bring them.  If you don't have them, don't worry because we can work on the routine without playing zils.

A New Post

I can't believe it's been a year, almost to the day, that I posted here!  My good intentions to getting a real website up and running have hit several snags along the way so I thought I'd post here once again.

Anna,  Tami, and I attended a belly dance workshop on Saturday in Columbus.  Sahra Saeeda from Los Angeles taught us Egyptian style Orientale and Zanbaka from Seattle,  taught various strong hand and arm movements and positions.   We also watched Anna shop ;))))  She made some beautiful purchases.  The show on Saturday night was fantastic!

Our next performance is scheduled for August 9 at the Hospice for Hope benefit.  We also have been invited to be in the Fireman's Parade in Covington, Kentucky on August 23 at 7 p.m.  Anna also received a request from a Girl Scout Troupe to teach and perform for them.  The nursing home in Ripley also wants us to perform.  I'm very excited that we are continuing to move forward and get more experience performing!

Please be working on combination ideas.  I really want to try to do a group choreo with everyone having some input.
